Working with the City of Columbus on this massive, $40 million TIA Band 2 project, Wolverton was responsible for concept development, survey database and preliminary plans to widen Buena Vista Road from 18th Avenue to Andrews Road and create a new grade separated intersection with Norfolk Souther Railroad. This stretch of road is consistently congested because of the lane configuration and the railroad tracks that go through the middle of the roadway. The chosen design alternative proposes a new bridge on Buena Vista Road over the railroad and MLK Blvd/Illges Road. Also includes two travel lanes, a center turn lane and a multi-use trail on the north side of Buena Vista Road. Project includes bridge design for Buena Vista Road over MLK Boulevard and the Norfolk Southern Railroad, five signal designs, four roundabouts and six retaining walls. SUE investigations were completed to determine utility locations and minimize impacts.
