Wolverton oversaw a team of consultants responsible for designing amenity improvements to Jones Bridge Park, located in Peachtree Corners near the Chattahoochee River. The improvements included replacing an old combined restroom-pavilion building with a new restroom building, adding a separate covered multi-use pavilion, adding connecting sidewalks and installing new landscaping in some bare areas.
Due to the project’s location next to the Chattahoochee River, the team had to meet the unique Chattahoochee River Corridor development standards in addition to the City and County code requirements. Careful consideration was used to locate the new buildings and connecting sidewalks in such a way that minimized impacts to existing trees, reduced the amount of impervious surface in the buffer area closest to the River and kept the improvements out of flood-prone areas. Part of the design will include a grassed swale that is used for water quality treatment and energy dissipation for storm water runoff draining from the existing asphalt parking lot.
