As part of a region-wide timing contract, Wolverton provided signal system timing optimization on nearly 130 intersections. The improvements in congestion along these corridors has saved travelers an estimated $5 million. These task orders followed GDOT’s 687 specifications and each corridor involved 2070 controllers utilizing Actra.
As part of the contract scope of services, Wolverton was charged with coordinating with the local government staff and the Georgia DOT. Because there is was a 16-week schedule to complete the task order, constant and efficient communication with all parties involved was essential. We completed each of the task orders earlier than the prescribed schedule. Signal Timing Maintenance was also an integral part of the contract. Once the system timings had been optimized, we continued to review the operation on a quarterly basis to ensure the corridor was operating as efficiently as it was at the time the project was completed. A report was generated and distributed to both the local government staff and Georgia DOT detailing all findings related to the operation of the system timings and equipment.
