US 29 / Beaver Ruin Road Lane Widening
Wolverton successfully completed the concept, database, preliminary plans, right-of-way plans, water and sewer relocation plans, and final roadway plans for this four-lane widening project. US 29 was a five-lane section including a two-way-left-turn lane. Our proposed design widened the existing roadway to two through-lanes in each direction with a 20-foot raised concrete median with curb and gutter and sidewalk on both sides of the road. This project also included improvements at the intersection of Beaver Ruin Road and Arcado Road, adding dual-left turn lanes on all four legs of the intersection. Three existing traffic signals along US 29 were modified or replaced. The design was especially challenging because of the extent of commercial development throughout the corridor. The design was successfully completed for the Gwinnett County DOT, but followed the Georgia DOT's Plan Development Process.
